Melindria draws her inspiration from her surroundings. The buildings, and landscapes which have touched her life are often the subjects of her art. Her favorite media are watercolor, gouache, dry and oil pastel, ink, colored pencil and graphite. The artist’s creative expression ranges from realism to abstract.
She was born and lived in NYC for much of her adult life. In 2003, she and her husband purchased a cottage on the Restigouche River in McLeods, New Brunswick. The artist became a member of the Bathurst Art Society in 2004, and a member of the Galerie Restigouche Gallery in Campbellton in 2005. She was granted a permit to work as a fine artist by the Canadian government in 2006, and became a Permanent Resident of Canada in 2013.
Melindria has been exhibiting publicly since 1978. Her work has been accepted into juried shows in NY, the New England states and Canada. Her most recent solo exhibitions have been with the Galerie Restigouche Gallery, and the Sohns Gallery in Bangor, Maine.
She has a B.A. degree in Art History from the University of Wisconsin. She received formal training in fine art during her college years, and in private classes while living in NYC.
Melindria has been teaching abstract art workshops since 2007.
