In visual art there are five basic elements to creating art:

Line, shape, colour, texture and space.

Line maybe 2D or 3D, descriptive, or abstract

Shape can be 2D, flat, or limited to height and width

Colour is made up of three properties–hue, value, and intensity

Texture refers to how something feels and looks–smooth, rough, shiny or dull

Space has  negative and positive areas in art work
