A Growing tradition of Plein air in bathurst
There is something truly special about artists gathering outdoors, easels set against the natural beauty of our region, capturing moments as they unfold in real time. The Bathurst Art Society has been nurturing this experience through its Plein Air Art Festivals for over a decade--events that have become a meaningful tradition for both artists and community.
Since beginning at the Bathurst Waterfront in 2013, the festival has grown to include locations such as Petit-Rocher, returning again to the waterfront in 2017 and 2019. After a pause, it resumed in 2023 at the Bathurst Marina and Greenhouse Lounge, and most recently, the 11th festival took place in 2025 at the NB Distillery in downtown Bathurst.
As part of the Art Tells Stories initiative, these events celebrate creativity while capturing the landscapes, culture, and spirit of northern New Brunswick--one painting at a time.
